CIA'in sırrı çözülüyordu

Dış Haberler Servisi

dun04.jpg        CIA'in merkez binasının bahçesini süsleyen gizemli heykel, az kalsın kuruluşun prestijini tehlikeye atıyordu. ABD'nin Virginia eyaletindeki merkezdeki 'Kryptos' adlı heykelin üzerinde yer alan ve kimsenin çözemeyeceği iddia edilen yazının 'deşifre' edildiği iddiaları, CIA'i telaşa düşürdü. Zira, Yunancada "saklı, gizli" anlamına gelen 'Kryptos'un şifresi, 'çözülemezliği' ile CIA'in gücünü simgeliyordu. 1990 yılında eski CIA'li Jim Sanborn tarafından tasarlanan Kryptos'un kenarlarında gizli 865 harflik şifre, CIA içinde dahi çözülemiyordu. Şifrenin tamanına yakınını evdeki bilgisayarından çözdüğünü iddia eden bilgisayar mühendisi Jim Gillogly, bunun için kendi tasarımı özel bilgisayar programını kullandığını öne sürdü. Los Angeles'li Gillogly'nin programı, 1930'lardan kalma teknikleri kullanıyor. Bilgisayarcının iddiasına göre, son bölümü çözülemeyen şifrenin ilk satırları bir şiir, Tutankamon'un mezarına atıfta bulunan sözler ve CIA'in merkezinin harita koordinatlarından oluşuyor. Kryptos'un yaratıcısı Sanborn ise, şifrenin "bilmece içinde bilmece" olduğunu, bir bütün halinde anlamı ifade ettiğini söylemekle yetiniyor. Bilmecenin asıl cevabını, yalnız tasarımcısı ve yanıtı kasalarında saklayan CIA'in şefleri biliyor.

CIA's mystery was being solved

Foreign News Service

In the CIA's Headquarters garden, the mysterious/encoded sculpture which decorates it, almost placed the organization's prestige in danger.

In the USA's Virginia state, at the Headquarters, the message upon the 'Kryptos' named sculpture, was asserted to be unbreakable, but the rumor about it being broken made the CIA worried.

Because in Greek "hidden, secret" is the meaning of 'Kryptos', the 'insolvability' of the code was symbolizing the CIA's strength.

In 1990, former CIA agent (sic) Jim Sanborn designed on the sides of Kryptos the secret 865-letter code, that even the CIA could not solve.

Asserting that he had solved almost all of the code on his home computer, computer engineer Jim Gillogly , used a program that he designed himself.

The Los Angele'an Gillogly's program uses techniques remaining from the 1930's.

The computer programmer's assertion, the last part unsolved, the code's first lines consist of a poem, words about Tutankhamen's tomb, and map coordinates of the CIA Headquarters.

Kryptos' creator Sanborn, however, only says that it is "a riddle within a riddle", with the true meaning known only when it is complete.

The puzzle's true answer is known only by the designer and the CIA directors, who keep the answer in a safe.

Turkish translation by John & Serpil Wilson, attempting to maintain similar sentence structure.
Remember, this is English --> Turkish --> English, it's going to get a little scrambled...but it gives the flavor of how the Turks would say it.
A better/smoother translation would use English with different grammatical structure.
